About the commission

The Public Safety Commission advises the City Council on matters pertaining to funding, operation, maintenance, facilities and other aspects of the Fire and Police departments. Its mission is to help those departments maintain high standards and deliver the highest quality emergency safety services to the residents of Albany.

Membership requirements: The Mayor and Council may appoint one member outside the city as a representative of the rural fire districts that contract with the City for fire protection.

Principal place of residence within the jurisdictional limits of the City of Albany. (Res 6797)

Each council member shall have one counterpart with nominations ratified by the Council.
