At their August 26 meeting, the Albany City Council adopted Resolution No. 6923 condemning and expressing deep sadness over the recent events of bigotry and intimidation in Albany and the injustices that occur anywhere in our nation.  The Albany City Council stands steadfast against crimes of racism, intolerance, and unlawful discrimination that harm our residents, their quality of life, and the safety and security of those who live, work, and play in Albany.

The Mayor, City Council, and City staff are committed to safeguarding our community against the damages that racism causes and to ensuring respect and protection of the Constitutional rights of every person who lives or works in Albany as well as those who visit our community.  We are further committed to continuing dialog with the community through the Albany Human Relations Commission to address issues of systemic racism and intolerance and their impact on individuals and the Albany community as a whole.
